At the Domaine Tourbillon cellar in Lagnes, we don’t talk about “local terroir” for the sake of it.
Here, we do something more honest: we make the great Southern Rhône appellations come alive.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Plan de Dieu, Côtes du Rhône.
They’re not grown in Lagnes. They’re grown about 30 kilometers away.
Close enough to feel them. Close enough to understand them. Close enough to taste them properly.
That’s exactly what our tastings are about.
I’m Pierre, and I run the cellar.
My job isn’t to impress you with complicated vocabulary.
It’s to help you understand why a wine tastes the way it does – and why you enjoy it.
Our tastings are structured, but never stiff.
We talk soils, climate, grape varieties, vinification choices.
Always clearly. Always concretely.
Because wine doesn’t need mystification. It needs explanation.
You won’t be guided by a script here. You’ll be guided by people.
Uwe is trilingual – English, German and French.
He has a rare talent: making everyone feel comfortable, whatever their language or level of knowledge. Wine becomes accessible, not simplified.
Étienne is all about terroir.
He talks about appellations like others talk about places they love.
His explanations connect geology, history and taste – without ever losing you along the way.
And me, Pierre?
I like when things are precise, when glasses make sense, when tasting tools are well chosen, and when pleasure stays at the center of the table.
Our cellar is a gateway.
Not to Lagnes’ terroir – but to the Rhône Valley.
During tastings, we explore:
Each wine is tasted with context.
Each appellation is placed on the map.
Nothing is left vague.
A good tasting needs the right environment.
Our cellar is stocked with:
Everything here serves one purpose: better tasting.
Can I visit the cellar without being a wine expert?
Absolutely. Our tastings are designed for curious people, not specialists only.
Do you offer tastings in English and German?
Yes. Uwe conducts tastings fluently in English, German and French.
Are the wines produced in Lagnes?
No. The wines come from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Plan de Dieu and the Southern Rhône, about 30 km from the cellar.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking is recommended, especially during high season.
Can I buy the wines after the tasting?
Of course. The cellar is designed for tasting and purchasing with confidence.
